Does Las Vegas have a gay neighborhood?

Many of my gay clients ask me if there is a “gayborhood” in Las Vegas….and I always say “Almost.” My partner and I live in fantastic neighborhood called McNeil Manor in the center of town. The homes were originally built in the 1960’s. Most of the lots are 10,000 sq ft, mostly single story homes, five minutes to the strip, easy access to the freeway, a mile and a half from the emerging downtown Las Vegas area. The Smith Center for the performing arts is being built as we speak and is scheduled to open March 10,2012. This will bring much needed culture to our city that doesn’t require one to walk through a casino. Touring Broadway musicals, symphonies, dance companies, and much more. Having this performing arts center will really kick start the renovation of the downtown area and I’m thrilled to be in a neighborhood that is so accessible to the arts and culture! But back to McNeil, there are already a growing number of gay couples and a few cute single guys in the neighborhood (I’d be happy to make an introduction) but we need more of the gay flair to help make this neighborhood even better. Many of these homes are original, and yes I have seen my share of felt wall paper in a few homes. The properties that are original are still charming but definitely need a renovation. The homes that have under gone a few renovations sell for significantly more, but still very reasonable for our market. Take a look at the original advertisement for McNeil:

There is no formal association here, but an informal group of neighbors started gathering once a month to discuss local issues. We even have a block party once a year. Since being in Las Vegas, I haven’t seen many neighborhoods where you can actually meet your neighbors and create a sense of community. We have a neighborhood watch, a Facebook fan page and a contact list to keep people up to date with events and issues with the area. The local councilmen and women attend our meetings and listen to our feedback.

Personally, I LOVE living here. I have been more engaged in what the city has to offer because it’s right at my fingertips. Below are some of the available homes for sale in this area. If you’d like to schedule a showing, please let me know and I’d be happy to make arrangements.
